Primary Children’s

I don’t remember if there was a temp track for this piece, but I knew they wanted a classical piano/strings based approach. There are really just two parts to this spot - the first part showing the difficulty/challenges of childhood disease and disability and the second showing those things being overcome. The VO, “victory is sweetest when you’ve known defeat” says it all. For the first part, the pacing was slower and I chose a minor key to emote the more serious nature of the scene. Then the music fades out when you see the girl receiving oxygen. As she wakes up and you hear her breathe, the piano picks up in velocity and though it is still in a minor key, it has a triumphant feeling to it. We debated on the ending but ultimately went with the piano rolling to a halt when the boy’s hands land on the pull up bars and then bringing in the final chord when the logo plays.
